How it works
The countdown is plain calendar-day subtraction between today and the target date — positive counts into the future, negative into the past. "Today" is the day the page was generated; recalculate on the day you need it for a live number.
Frequently asked questions
Does the count include today?
The count is the number of midnights between today and the target: tomorrow is 1 day away, today itself is "today".
Can I count backwards?
Yes — pick any past date and the result flips to days since. Same arithmetic, opposite sign.
Where do the holiday countdowns come from?
Fixed-date holidays (Christmas, Valentine's Day, Halloween) are calendar constants; Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Easter are computed by rule — fourth-Thursday arithmetic and the Gregorian computus.
